WHAT WE OFFER

In-home ultrasound for dogs and cats

Every scan includes a physical examination by Dr. Graas and a full interpretation from a board-certified specialist — that reporting is included in the price, never billed separately.

Abdominal Ultrasound

A complete study of the abdominal organs. Read by a board certified radiologist.
Pets up to 70 lbs

Echocardiogram with ECG

A full heart ultrasound with single lead ECG. Interpreted by the board certified cardiologists at Cardiac Vet and Heartline. All echocardiograms will include a blood pressure check.
Pets up to 120 lbs

Bicavitary Ultrasound

Echocardiogram and abdominal ultrasound in a single visit, for pets who need both the heart and the abdomen evaluated at once.
Abdominal limit applies — up to 70 lbs

If you are not in need of an ultrasound appointment and are interested in a routine care appointment, you may contact Dr. Graas for availability.

Please tell us before your visit so we can bring the right supplies.
  • Augmented-lead ECG for pets with cardiac arrhythmias.
  • Blood pressure checks for all cardiac patients.
  • Ultrasound-guided fine needle aspirate of abdominal masses and effusions.
  • Submission of aspirates to clinical pathologists for disease characterization.
  • Injectable sedation.
  • Wellness/ routine care services (vaccination, heartworm testing, fecal testing) (*blood work is not currently offered, but will be soon!).
  • Supportive care services (e.g., subcutaneous fluids, anti-vomiting injections, and other injections)
  • Cardiac medications stocked so treatment can start right away (e.g., Vetmedin, furosemide, spironolactone, benazepril, and many more).
  • Heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and other medications.
  • In case of unexpected in-home emergencies, we carry some essential emergency injections.
Pricing. A $150 house call and physical examination fee applies to every visit and is required to schedule an ultrasound. North Shore visits add $50. Ultrasound is shown on the booking form when you select your service, before any payment is taken.
Medication. We are committed to making care accessible, which is why our medication pricing directly reflects the affordable rates you would find at low-cost pet pharmacies.
More than one pet? Additional pets seen during the same visit don't require a second house call fee — you pay only for each pet's ultrasound plus a $50 examination fee per additional pet.

HOW IT WORKS

Steps to booking your pet's care plan

Day of visit Prep:

Fasting

No food for 8 hours before the appointment. Water is fine. This applies to every ultrasound, abdominal and cardiac alike.

Oral sedatives

If Dr. Graas or your regular veterinary have prescribed sedative medications such as trazodone or gabapentin, give the first dose 8 hours before the appointment and the second dose 1–2 hours before he arrives.

Setting up the room

Before he arrives, secure your pet in a quiet room with enough space for a 4-foot table.

Shaving

We shave a small patch in each "armpit" for echocardiograms, and the abdomen for abdominal ultrasounds.

What happens after the appointment:


What your report includes:

  • Echocardiograms come back with a detailed treatment and monitoring plan from a board-certified cardiologist.

  • Abdominal scans include interpretation by a board-certified radiologist. Dr. Graas and your regular veterinarian then collaborate on your pet's treatment plan.

  • Turnaround time is 3-7 days for reports (24-48 hours for STAT reports).

You don't need an existing veterinarian to book with us. If you have one, we'll always send them a copy.

For Referring Veterinarians: Referring vets may review the results themselves, or they can ask Dr. Graas to call with the results.

Each visit is scheduled for a full hour, so your pet is never rushed. Bookings open up to 12 months ahead.
Need a visit sooner, or can't make these times? Email Dr. Graas directly, and he'll do his best to accommodate you.
We may contact you to reschedule your appointment to improve travel time efficiency.

FAQs

Good to know

  • No. You can book directly with us, with or without a regular veterinarian. If you have one, we'll send them a full copy of the report.

  • After Dr. Graas confirms your appointment, you'll receive a link to pay the $150 deposit, which is applied to your balance. The remainder is due at the end of the visit—by major credit card or Venmo. We can also invoice by email. We don't carry cash.

  • The $150 deposit is fully refundable if you cancel more than 24 hours before your appointment. Cancellations inside 24 hours forfeit the deposit.

  • We can accommodate anxious, stressed or aggressive pets. Please contact us ahead of time so we can put a medication protocol in place before the visit — it reduces your pet's stress and keeps everyone safe. Injectable sedation is available if needed.

  • Not at this time.

  • Our in-home service is for dogs and cats only.

Is your pet having an emergency?

We don't take emergency cases for in-home visits. If your pet has collapsed, is struggling to breathe, or is in crisis, go straight to an emergency hospital — Veterinary Emergency and Referral Center, VCA Family and Specialty, Feather and Fur Animal Hospital, or Waipahu Waikele Pet Hospital.
